About me
Melissa Guerrette, NBCT, is a 5th grade teacher at Oxford Elementary School in Oxford, Maine and a member of the Teach Maine Center Executive Team. She is the 2021 Oxford County Teacher of the Year, and in 2025 received the Claudette and John Brassil Distinguished Educator Award from MCELA and the Karen MacDonald Service to Teaching Award (Educate Maine). Involved with local and state initiatives related to Language Arts, teacher leadership, and social justice, Melissa is continuously reflecting on her positionality and learning how to show up as an accomplice. Her professional passion is empowering students and helping them uncover their individuality—as readers, writers, and as people—for themselves.
