About me
Sharon Gallant was a science educator at Gardiner Area High School and the 2023 Kennebec County Teacher of the Year. With more than 30 years in education, she is recognized for outdoor and experiential learning and has presented professional development throughout Maine. Sharon holds a master’s degree in geosciences from Mississippi State University and is a Maine Master Naturalist. A passionate advocate for authentic assessment, she integrates book art and nature journaling to help students creatively demonstrate understanding and connect deeply with the natural world. This work has strengthened her belief that when students are given opportunities to show what they know in purposeful and creative ways, they consistently rise to the occasion.
